This page explains, in plain language, what Travel Game currently stores, what can become public and how to delete it. It may change as the product develops.

Before you sign in

If you play as a guest, the countries you mark visited, the experiences you record and your onboarding answers are kept only in your browser (local storage) on the device you are using. Nothing is sent to a server until you choose Save my world and sign in.

When you sign in

You can sign in with Google or Apple, or create an account with an email address and password. To create an account we store:
· your email address, and an account identifier (from Google or Apple, if you use one of them to sign in — Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real email)
· the countries and regions you have marked visited, and your home country
· the experiences you have collected or recorded, including any custom text you write and the date you experienced them
· photos you add — an experience's cover photo, and the notes, dates and photos you attach to an experience as your memory of it
· your traveler profile if you set one up (display name, username, bio, profile photo) and whether it is public
· your language preference
· if you choose to share an experience, its share link and which details (date, note and photos) you allowed it to show
Things such as your level and travel score are calculated from the items above.

What can become public

Everything is private by default. Nothing becomes public unless you take an explicit action:
· A public profile (you switch it to Public). Anyone with the link can see your display name, username, bio, profile photo, the countries you have visited, counts of your destinations and regions, the number of Experiences you have chosen to share (never a count of your private ones), and those shared experiences. Your private Experiences, notes and photos are not shown. Switching back to Private takes the profile and its photo offline on the next request.
· A shared experience (you turn sharing on for that experience). Anyone with its link can see the title, place and your display name. The date, and your note and photos for it, appear only if you switch those on. Turning sharing off disables the link. Photos on public pages are delivered through short-lived links.
· Share images and Passport share links. The Country Passport and My Travel World pictures are created on demand from your own data and are not stored. When you share a Country Passport, we also create a share link: an anonymous public page that shows only that country, how many Essentials you have collected out of the total and your region count (the same figures as the picture), together with public catalogue content for the country. It does not show your name, username, photo, email, dates, notes or photos, and it works even if your profile is private. Anyone who has the link can open it. The link is deleted when you delete your account, and we can switch it off on request. My Travel World pictures never make anything public. You choose where to send everything.

Community

If you make your profile Public, it can be found and searched in the Travelers directory, and other travelers can see the catalogue Experiences you have collected and marked as Recommended (recommendation counts shown to others only ever include Public profiles). Anyone can report or block another profile; we store who reported whom and the reason category, but we never show the reporter's identity to the person reported. We may make a Public profile Private again if it breaks the community rules — your private data is never affected by this. Before you can make your profile Public for the first time, and again if the community rules change, you are asked to agree to them; we store which version you agreed to and when.

Where it is stored

Account data, including uploaded photos, is stored using Supabase, a third-party hosting provider that runs the database, private file storage, and authentication. Sign-in with Google and Sign in with Apple are handled by Google's and Apple's own sign-in services. Purchases are handled by Apple's App Store, together with RevenueCat, a third-party subscription service that receives your account identifier and your purchase and subscription information so it can tell the app whether Plus is active. Emails the app sends you about your account (such as password-reset messages) are delivered through Resend, a third-party email delivery service, which receives your email address and the content of that message in order to deliver it. The web app itself is hosted on Vercel. When a country share image is created, the image renderer may load public flag artwork from a content-delivery network; that request does not contain your data. Uploaded photos are kept in private storage, resized, and stripped of embedded metadata such as location.

Cookies and local storage

Travel Game uses a sign-in session cookie so you stay signed in, a language cookie so pages appear in your language, and your browser's local storage for guest data and small interface preferences. There are no advertising cookies.

How it is used

Your data is used to run the app, show you your own progress and, only where you have made something public, to show it to others. We do not sell your data, and there are no advertising trackers or third-party analytics services. We do record first-party product-usage events (for example, that an experience was collected, onboarding was completed or a page was viewed) so we can see where people get stuck. Events recorded while signed in are linked to your account and are deleted with it; events recorded before you sign in (such as a visit to the start page) carry no account or personal identifier. When someone opens a shared Passport page or taps its button, we also record an anonymous event (only the country of the shared page and a rough device type such as iPhone or desktop — no account, no name, no IP address and no identifier of the share link) so we can see how shared pages and their button are used and whether sharing helps people discover Travel Game. Events never contain the content you write, your search terms, or your photos.

Purchases and subscriptions

Travel Game Plus is an optional paid subscription, offered monthly or annually through Apple's App Store (or Google Play, where available), or a billing partner acting on their behalf. Travel Game does not receive or store your full payment card details — purchases are handled entirely by the platform you buy through. We use RevenueCat to verify purchases and keep your Plus status in sync; it receives your account identifier together with your purchase and subscription information. We store only what is needed to recognize that a purchase belongs to your account: your subscription's current status (for example active, canceled or expired) and its current billing period, so the app can unlock Plus for you. We do not receive your payment method or billing address from the app store.

Deleting your data

You can permanently delete your own account and everything in it at any time from Settings → Delete account. This removes your experiences, notes, photos, profile, preferences and sign-in identity, and your public profile and any share links stop working immediately. Reports you filed, blocks you set, and your community-rules acceptance record are removed as well. It cannot be undone. Backups held by our infrastructure providers may take some time to expire. If you signed in with Apple, we also ask you to confirm with Apple once more so that Travel Game's access to your Apple ID can be removed. Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription — cancel it separately in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. Records that Apple and RevenueCat hold about your purchases are kept under their own policies and are not removed by deleting your Travel Game account. As a guest, clearing your browser's site data for this site removes everything stored locally.
